SEO Success - SEO Maintenance For Your Website

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

SEO is not an advertising campaign. It is an ongoing process for websites if they wish to maintain their high organic rankings on major search engines like Google and Yahoo. When your site finally gets high ranking for important keywords of your business, there can never be a guarantee that your site will remain at favourable positions forever without persistent SEO maintenance.

Therefore, maintenance needs to be done for specific keywords that have achieved high organic rankings on search engines. Businesses with important keywords ranking high on organic listings simply cannot afford to lose their positions as it will mean a decrease in traffic, leads, and sales. It will be good if these companies continue to pay a SEO agency to maintain their rankings at an affordable cost.

Sometimes, search engines will just drop off a website from its listings entirely. Or in some cases, you will see a drastic drop in the ranking for some of your keywords. During these circumstances, you should give your SEO agency time to fight back the ranking for you. SEO results take time and it is also true with SEO maintenance. Give your agency a buffer period of 3 to 4 weeks to work things out before you deduce its efficiency and capability.

During SEO maintenance, it does not mean just maintaining the keywords around the same positions. A professional SEO agency should also work on improving the initial ranking of the keywords. Agency will evaluate whether any tweaking need to be done and other necessary SEO processes. Below are some of the maintenance works for SEO:

1. Changing of tagging. If the SEO agency finds that there is a drastic drop in your SEO ranking, they might suggest changing the tagging for every optimized page.

2. Adding of content. Adding fresh and keyword-rich content is definitely a great way to maintain your favourable SEO rankings.

3. Review keywords. If the conversions are low from SEO, your agency might suggest reviewing of keywords and optimize more relevant keywords for you.

4. Building links. Building link is a process that must not be stopped. Consistent link building is needed to maintain favourable SEO rankings.

Make sure that the agency handling your maintenance provides you with a monthly report to show your ranking performance. Any changes made to the website should also be documented to prevent any overwriting. With proper maintenance, your site should remain in favourable positions for years to come. Remember, search engine optimization is a process, not a one-time effort.

The Optimization Dilemma - SEO VS PPC

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Advent of computer was the first thing, that changed the equation of the business structure of an organization. And Internet was the another, that changed how businesses were never mutually exclusive. Internet over the years have become one of the battle ground of fiercest campaigns in the advertisement world. It has become mandatory for any business organization to get a better rank for its website in the Search engine listings. Search engines as of now, has become the most common medium for an Internet users to look for the information.

SEO(Search Engine Optimization) and PPC(pay per click) are two of the most popular search engine marketing techniques to divert the targeted traffic toward a specific website.

Search engine optimization is a technique widely used in the Internet marketing campaigns. It is basically used to steadily position the website at the top rank of popular search engines to give a brand visibility by optimizing the content of the site.

So every time a user starts a search on products that your company is selling, then the website of your company gets listed in the top ranks of the listing, thus getting you your potential customers. One should be aware of the fact that, Internet users have a common practice to limit their search in the first page of the search result itself. Hence its pertinent that your website has better rank to be featured among those. This can be ensured by effective SEO campaigns.

Pay Per Click or better known as PPC, is an another traffic generator program, wherein you have to pay each time someone clicks on you link. PPC is a technique of adding your website link in popular search engines. Now whenever a visitor clicks the link, he is directed to the respective website, and for this service a commission has to be paid to the search engine. One can gain immediate results through PPC, and a potential customer can easily reach you without much effort.

However both SEO and PPC have their own pros and cons. But on the long run, its SEO that pays Off.

One of the initial requirement to start an SEO campaign is a higher investment compared to PPC. But over the time, SEO managed websites will require very less additional costs to bring in high quality traffic. But in PPC campaign, a constant investment is very essential to keep bringing in the desired traffic. Hence SEO proves to provide higher ROI(Return of investment) over the time unlike PPC.

SEO may take time to show its desired result, whereas one can witness immediate result through PPC campaign. But however, PPC doesn’t guarantee that all the clicks will fetch positive results.

It’s not just the investment of significant amount of time but also efforts put into analyzing the PPC campaign, managing bids, and writing new advertising articles, that makes this technique a tardy one. On the other hand, SEO campaign, with a good strategy with its usage of proper key words can return benefits in bounds.

One of the major drawback of PPC is that it is very susceptible to click fraud. Click fraud is an intended attack to reduce the profitability of your PPC campaign. There are scores of methods to achieve Click fraud. One of the most popular one is the robotic script that clicks a competitors’ PPC links from time to time. This has high denting effects on a PPC campaign, such as it would cost you your money, even though no real traffic are diverted to your website. Another such click fraud technique is, that search engines are repeatedly run but without clicking on your PPC link. This affects the popularity of the site and hence may subside to far lower ranks.
But SEO campaigns are known to be free of such kind of frauds.

So taking the overall view of the comparative analysis of the SEO and PPC campaigns, one can note that, a successful SEO campaign would demand time and experience but on the other hand, PPC requires time, experience as well as constant flow of money.

It is advisable that based on the requirement of the business strategy, one should either go for SEO or the PPC, not just on the misguided perceptions.

Promote Your Expertise, Your Business, and Your Website

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Let’s say you know something that other people don’t know. Or you have a skill or area of specialty or expertise that other people would like to learn about. Maybe your business is unusual or niche or maybe your business is ‘normal’ but has involved you learning about running a business.

You have knowledge that other people would like to have. And I’m going to suggest, strongly, that you give that knowledge away. For free. And you make it available for anyone anywhere to download. In fact, I recommend that you do the hard work and make your knowledge easy for everyone to find.

I probably need to explain why this makes sense and what the incentive is for you to do it.

Well, firstly, if the article is well written (get someone to write it for you if you are not able to, or don’t have to time to, write it yourself) and informative, it will demonstrate to people that you really do know what you’re talking about. Obviously, you’ll put your name, company name and website address in there, so people will know just who this expert is!

Secondly, you can make the article available by submitting it to one (or several) of the many article submission sites on the web - such as ezine or goarticles (again, if you don’t know how to do this, get someone who can do it for you). Each article will have your name, your company name and a link back to your site. The article is free and copyright free, so that anyone can use it. Unless you’ve copied someone else’s article and submitted it as your own, Google will find it, and notice that you’ve got links back to your site from the article site, building your sites credibility with the search engines.

Now let’s say that one of the millions of editors of online magazines and E-mail newsletters picks up your article and uses it, with links back to your site. Google will spot that too, further enhancing your site’s online reputation.

So, give a little time each month to writing something of interest. It will build your ‘real’ credibility with the people who read it, and your website’s ‘virtual’ credibility with the search engines - ultimately helping to boost your search engine ranking.

You might even discover a talent for writing - the next JK Rowling might well be out there!

Search Engine Optimization Help

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

I personally have been doing this for over 10 years and I still don’t know everything. How you get help for SEO is still a work in progress. As a matter of fact I read an article where Google received emails from companies that were “phishing” for new business. In simple terms they are a scam they say something like “Dear ABC I was on your website and noticed you are not getting top listing on Google…. Blah blah blah”. Sound familiar? I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when they got that email! Below are some things to keep in mind.

There is no Guarantee you will get #1 Google ranking Companies that guarantee you top rating on Google because of a “special relationship with them are full of it. As much as I would love to bash Goggle for many things they are ethical. They have no priority for their submission. As a matter of fact the only way you can actually submit a site is through their add url submission page. So move on partner and do this legally.

Be weary of companies that won’t explain how they can get top rankings Have Joe or Sheila explain how they are going to do this. More often than not they will misrepresent or give you misleading information. Give you all these services that you can get for free if you took the time to search. Therefore have them spell it out, even in writing if they are willing to give you the guarantee.

Network and talk to other SEO companies Always ask for references that is a good start. I actually had a company contact me and promise me the world as far as Google ranking. The problem was they could not explain why they were not #1 in Google. I don’t recall what the woman said but by the third sentence out of her mouth I was playing tug of war with my dog Lucy. You can see how interested I was.

Protect yourself Legally

  • Have everything in writing if you are going to choose ABC Company to do your SEO work.
  • Make sure you talk to clients they have had in the past.
  • Make sure that Google has not removed their previous clients.
  • Check their WHOIS info.
  • Watch out for doorway pages.
  • If you think you have been deceived by ABC Company contact the FTC including the BBB. If you want to file a complaint go to http://www.ftc.gov/ or you can call them at 1877.FTC.HELP

Simple Search Engine Optimization - (It Starts with the Code)

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

Having a proper code architecture is vital to the search engine marketing of a Website.

Simply put, designing an awesome content rich website is not enough. Yes, the site needs to be placed in front of as many potential visitors as possible. There are countless Search Engine Optimization and Placement companies that offer search engine placement services. Unfortunately, many of them focus primarily on search engine submission and keyword tactics while overlooking the most crucial element involving search engine optimization, the ability of your pages to communicate well with the search engines.

It all begins with proper code structure. This article explains how search engines work and how anyone can optimize their website for better search engine placement.

*Note - You DO NOT need to be a Web developer to utilize optimization techniques on an existing Website. Most optimizations can be made by simply changing the location of a few lines of script or adding a word here or there. Create an optimized .html page and save it to your hard drive and you’ll have a template prepared for future projects.

One of the main rules in a ranking algorithm, often referred to as a “crawler” or “spider”, involves the location and frequency of keywords on a web page.

Search engines will also check to see if the search keywords appear near the top of a web page, such as in the head section or within the first few paragraphs of text in the body section. They assume that any page relevant to the topic will mention those keywords right from the beginning.

Frequency is the other major factor in how search engines determine relevancy. A search engine will analyze how often keywords appear in relation to other words in a web page. Pages that contain a keyword with a higher frequency are often deemed more relevant than other web pages.

Search engines may also penalize pages or exclude them from their cache all together if they detect search engine “spamming.” An example of this is when a word is repeated hundreds of times on a page in an attempt to increase the frequency and to move the page higher in the listings. Search engines watch for common spamming methods in a variety of ways, including following-up on complaints from search engine users.

The following “on the page” optimization techniques will greatly improve an existing Website’s ability to communicate well with the search engines:

JavaScript!

It doesn’t matter for what purpose you utilize JavaScript, (drop-down menus, pop-ups, etc.), place the script at the end of the HEAD section or place it in a separate file altogether that is “included” on your page. This will move the important content closer to the beginning of the page and will improve the keyword location.

Make sure that the Title tag is the first tag in the HEAD section of your page!

It needs to be placed before all other tags, otherwise search engines will overlook it which will have a negative impact on your rankings.

Make sure that your Title tag does not contain “stop” words!

Words like “and, on, a, the, for, to, about, are, that, were, by, of” and other auxiliary words are too common and search engine algorithms don’t take them into consideration. By using a stop word in your Title tag, you will damage your rankings.

Your keyword should be as close to the beginning of the Title tag as possible!

Move your keyword closer to the beginning of your Title to emphasize its importance and to greatly improve its prominence.

META name=”keywords” content=”less is more”!

Choose your keywords carefully, (6-10 max.), and place them in order of importance in this tag. Too many keywords in this tag will take away from the importance, relevance and position of every word in the tag.

Does your page contain enough text?

Pages that contain mostly FLASH or other ephemeral web-based applications often contain little or no text because the text is contained inside of the application, not on the page itself. This can make a page completely transparent to search engines. Each page should contain at least 150 words of visible text within the BODY section.

Are any of your keywords in bold?

When you utilize a bold font on a particular keyword or keyword phrase that is located in the BODY section, you are telling the search engines that you place a high level of importance on them. Therefore the search engines will consider those words or phrases to be more important than those in regular font.

Make sure that H1 tags contain keywords!

H1 or heading tags are very important to search engines. Place keywords and keyword phrases within heading tags.

Make sure that ALT= tags contain keywords!

The ALT= tags at the end of image links should contain keywords and keyword phrases.

Is your keyword present in the URL?

If your URL points to an established and high-ranked web page, do not alter your URL. However, this factor is worth considering when you create new pages / Websites. Search engines are favorable towards keywords in the URL. Just remember to use them sensibly and not to abuse them. When optimizing a page for a key phrase, separate the keywords in the URL with a hyphen, (web-site.html), or with an underscore, (web_site.html). Don’t write them in one word. The search engines will understand it only as a single word.

“Off the page” criteria

Over the years crawler-based search engines have had plenty of experience with webmasters who consistently rewrite their web pages in an attempt to gain better rankings. Some determined webmasters may even attempt to “reverse engineer” the location/frequency systems utilized by a particular search engine. Because of this, in addition to location/frequency methods all major search engines now utilize “off the page” ranking criteria. Webmasters can’t easily influence these factors.

Primary among off the page criteria is link analysis. By analyzing how pages link to one another, a search engine algorithm can determine two things:

- The topic of the page itself
- Whether or not the page is “important”, (thus deserving of a ranking boost)

In addition, sophisticated techniques are used to screen out attempts by webmasters to build “artificial” links that are designed to boost their rankings.

Another off the page factor is click-through measurement. A search engine may monitor what results a search engine user receives after a particular search and what clicks are made by that user. Eventually the search engine will drop high-ranking pages that aren’t attracting clicks, while promoting lower-ranking pages that do. Just as with link analysis, systems are utilized to compensate for fake links generated by over zealous webmasters.

Give these simple optimization techniques a try and I think that you will be pleased with the results.

Search Engine Marketing - Increasing Your Search Engine Ranking

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

Search Engine Marketing - Increasing Your Search Engine Ranking

The methods employed to increase your search engine rankings may seem like rocket science to you, so you have probably avoided dealing with this issue. I am here to tell you - the time has come to face your website! A high search engine ranking for your website is so essential that if you have the slightest desire to actually succeed in your business, there is no way you can continue to avoid this
issue.

At least 85% of people looking for goods and services on the Internet find websites through search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The idea of optimizing your pages for high search engine rankings is to attract targeted customers to your site who will be more than likely to make
a purchase. The higher your page comes up in search engine results, the greater the traffic that is directed to your website. That’s what search engine optimization is about.

You can immerse yourself in all the technical information available online to figure out how to optimize your web pages to achieve higher rankings. Or you can look at a few simple items on your pages, make some small adjustments, and most likely see improved rankings quite rapidly. The first item you should examine is the title bar on your homepage.

The title bar is the colored bar at the top of the page. Look at the words that appear there when you access your home page. To increase search engine rankings, the words on your homepage’s title bar should include the most important keywords or phrases, one of which would include your company name.

Then click on all your links and examine the title bars on the pages you access. Each title bar on every single page of your site should contain the most important keywords and phrases taken from the page itself. However, avoid very long strings of keywords, keeping them to six words or less. Avoid repeating keywords more than once in the title bars, and make sure that identical words are not next to
each other.

The next item to put under your microscope is your website content. Search engines generally list sites that contain quality content rather than scintillating graphics. The text on your site must contain the most important keywords - the words that potential customers will be typing into search engines to find your site.

Aim to have around 250 words on each page, but if this is not desirable due to your design, aim for at least 100 carefully chosen words. If you want to achieve a high ranking on search engines, this text is essential. However, the search engines must be able to read the text, meaning that the text must be in HTML and not graphic format.

To find out if your text is in HTML format, take your cursor and try to highlight a word or two. If you are able to do this, the text is HTML. If the text will not highlight, it is probably in graphic form. In this case, ask your webmaster to change the text into HTML format in order to increase your search engine rankings.

Next we come to what is called meta tags. I know this sounds like something out of science fiction, but it is really just simple code. Many people believe that meta tags are the key to high search engine rankings, but in reality, they only have a limited effect. Still, it’s worth adding them in the event that a search engine will use meta tags in their ranking formula.

To find out if your page is set up with meta tags, you must access the code. To do this, click the “view” button on the browser menu bar, and select “source.” This will pull up a window revealing the underlying code that created the page. If there are meta tags, they usually appear near the top of
the window. For example, a meta tag would read: meta name=”keywords” content=. If you do not find code that reads like this, ask your webmaster to put them in. This may not do much for your search engine rankings, but any little boost helps.

Lastly, we come to the issue of link popularity. This is a factor that is extremely important in terms of search engine rankings. Almost all search engines use link popularity to rank your website. Link popularity is based on the quality of the sites you have linked to from your links page.

If you type in “free link popularity check” in a popular search engine, the search engine will then show you what sites are linked to your site. In the case that there aren’t many sites linked up to yours, or that the sites that are linked up have low search engine rankings, consider launching a link popularity campaign. Essentially, this entails contacting quality sites and requesting that they exchange links with your site. Of course, this requires checking out the rankings of the websites you want to link up with. Linking to popular, quality sites not only boosts your search engine ranking, but it also directs more
quality traffic to your website.

Search engine rankings are extremely important for a successful Internet marketing campaign. Before you go out and hire a search engine optimization company, try taking some of the simple steps listed above, and see if you can’t boost your rankings yourself. Don’t ever ignore this all-important factor in Internet marketing. Remember, the higher your search engine ranking, the more quality
customers will be directed your way.

Search Engine Optimization Myths - You Have Always Been Taught False Lessons!

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

It is sad to see that most web contents tell people wrongly about search engine optimization. Most webmasters preach what is heard from other websites. You have been always taught mythology than the real lessons of search engine optimization for your websites.

I have heard many people saying that Google will penalize for duplicate content on your websites, which is totally a myth. I have added articles from various article directories to my web pages for the sake of content. I have not had any problem till now. The duplicate content terms of service is wrongly understood and taught. Every search engine has its own way to manipulate duplicate content. I will not go exactly on which terms each of them work. But, all search engines does follow one common specific criteria to judge the content as duplicate. Here it is: Those website contents that show same search results when viewers actually type a search term, with one or more of the same search result (duplicate), without any extra search benefits, such websites are to be considered as duplicate content sites.

If a website has 100% duplicate content of a original website, such sites are to be considered as duplicate content. If a website has 70% of original content and 30% of “borrowed content” or syndicated to the benefit of that website visitors, it is unlikely to be called as duplicate content site.

The fact that RSS came into existence on www, content syndication from mighty content websites to other small websites has grown rapidly and has largely benefited internet users. There is literally more than 10 million websites on internet and it is virtually difficult for each one to generate original content, always. Wikipedia is an example of such sites. It is not been penalized yet!

Similarly, another myth is about back linking strategy. The myth is that if you do not get relevant back links from authority websites, you will lose your ranking! Consider this. Yahoo! is number one in rank on www and Google number two. If you see both of them for “who is linking them”, you will find they are linked some 100 million times. Not all links linking to them are relevant. Yet they are number 1 and number 2 in ranking on internet.

There is nothing like relevant linking strategy specified by search engines. A one way back links is although a criteria to good ranking, it always does not need to be from relevant sites.

Now is the time to understand what really is search engine optimization. Changes are happening every time when “Black-hat” technicians works out to cheat search engines often. Their alogarithm changes when they are tricked by them. Still, websites that is growing organically without using black-hat techniques have generously been rewarded by search engines and will continue to do so.

I will limit only for few of the search engine myths in this article. An article alone is not sufficient for me to present about these myths. There is even more to be told and taught about this subject, which I will cover it in my blog, with a free video presentation. You will also get a free chapter of “Search Engine Myths Exposed”, where you will find more about it.

To know more about SEO myths, click here: http://internetmarketing-myreviews.blogspot.com/2007/12/you-have-been-lied-to-friend_24.html post. View the video and get a FREE chapter about SEO myths. EDC Gold - Use SEO To Rank on First Page

Published by Admin under Uncategorized

The number one advertising promotion today is to utilize the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) method to get businesses like EDC Gold listed on the first page of search results. For Internet users seeking to find a related website, search engines are the only way to go. It is by far the easiest and quickest way to get any subject that you are interested in. Of course the main point is understanding what search engines are. Then, this helps understand how and why they are used.

When you type in a word or phrase in the search window, the search engine then scans the Internet to locate that word or phrase. Already having that information stored in its data base from when websites were originally submitted, the search engine then matches the word or phrase with those websites.

The next step for the SEO is to determine which websites are most likely to match the word or phrase you are looking for with its content. This is done by a ranking system that varies depending on which search engine you are using. This ranking system is extremely important to both the person searching and the owner of the websites because linking the two together is what both parties are seeking. The better the website ranking by the SEO, the better the chances are for getting the search results to include the website on the first page of results.

For online businesses like EDC Gold, it is extremely important to get the website ranked high by the search engines. So when you create your website, you must use keywords that relate directly to the content in order to get it ranked high enough to be included on the first page of the search results.

Doing your homework and preparation into knowing what words and phrases that the person searching the Internet is looking for will pay off with great success.
